What we're about:

by Matt Ravenscroft, Director

The Mountain Ridge Historical Research Methods class, under the direction of Mr. Ravenscroft, is dedicated to recording and preserving local oral history.

This website will be a medium to share with the world, for many generations, the oral history of our veterans.  Only 10% of World War II veterans remain and it is our class mission to preserve as many of there testimonies as possible.  The website will provide you with a short clip, links to pictures, and their biography, but a full copy of the documentary is available for purchase.

If there are any veterans whowould be willing to give their time to be interviewed, please use our Contact page to contact our school for more information.

Sincerely,
The Historical Research Team

Cumberland Times News: Letter to the Editor

The students of Mountain Ridge High School have recently undertaken a project researching and recording the experiences of our local veterans with a focus on World War II.

Our objective is to preserve their knowledge and experiences through video documentaries.

Having this documentation of our veterans’ actual experiences will serve as witness for future generations of what these brave men and women went through for our freedom.

Most of our historical knowledge and information is a collective effort from numerous veterans and historians compiled into a generic version of what happened.

Our project will take the generic version and expand it even more to record the actual images, and sounds experienced through the accounts of our local veterans.

This project will enable us as a community to re-experience our history on a more local and personal level, a level that many may never have known before.

If you or someone you know is a veteran and would like to participate in our documentaries, please contact Matt Ravenscroft at 301-687-8014 or through e-mail at matthew.ravenscroft@mail.acps.k12.md.us.

This project is not just about historical dates and data. This project is about the men and women who made the dates and data history.
